Yaskawa robot FTP file transfer operation

Yaskawa robot FTP file transfer operation allows users to effectively upload and download robot programming files and configuration files through FTP (File Transfer Protocol). This operation is essential for program backup, update and recovery, and can ensure the stable operation and efficient management of the robot system.

To transfer files via FTP on a Yaskawa robot, start by connecting the robot to the same local network as the FTP server. On the robot’s control panel, access the network configuration page and input the correct IP settings. Next, launch the built – in FTP client. Enter the server’s IP, username, and password accurately. Once logged in, you can easily select files from the robot’s storage or the server side. Click the transfer button to move files in either direction, enabling smooth data exchange for efficient operation management.

1 Preparation
(1) Enable Ethernet function: The Ethernet function needs to be enabled on the Yaskawa robot.
(2) Ensure network connection: Make sure that the PC and the robot are in the same local area network (LAN) and use the correct IP address. Set the IP in the robot’s maintenance mode. If LAN2 is occupied by other devices, LAN3 should be used.
2 Method 1 FTP file transfer operation based on FailZilla
The PC needs to install FTP client software such as FileZilla to perform file transfer operations with the robot. At this time, the robot needs to be in remote mode. FailZilla is a third-party software that supports FTP file transfer operations. When performing COMS backup, you can only upload but not download.
(1) Enable automatic backup and initialize CMOSBK.BIN in robot maintenance mode
(2) Confirm the control cabinet time in robot normal mode
(3) Set CMD remote control in robot normal mode
(4) Set the automatic backup address to FTP
(5) PC-side FileZilla software operation steps (robot switches to remote mode)
If the program deletion fails, please confirm the file permissions
(6) CMOS backup
After setting the mode switch backup to effective, adjust the teach pendant from the teaching mode to the playback mode, and the CMOS file will start to be backed up. After the backup is completed, the latest backup time will be displayed. It is recommended to turn off the mode switch backup function after each backup to prevent backup after each mode switch.
(7) CMOS backup – PC-side FileZilla software operation steps (robot switches to remote mode)
3 Method 2 FTP file transfer operation based on command prompt
Take uploading/downloading of JOB files as an example
(1) Set up CMD remote control in normal robot mode
(2) Perform FTP communication through command prompt
In addition, for the FTP file transfer operation of Yaskawa robot, the following points should be considered:
Before performing FTP transfer, it is recommended to test the network connectivity to ensure that the network communication between the PC and the robot is unimpeded.
When using FTP client software such as FileZilla, the server address, user name and password to be accessed must be correctly set, which are key parameters to ensure the security and success of the transfer.
When uploading or downloading files, attention should be paid to the format and size of the file to avoid problems caused by incompatible formats or insufficient storage space.
In summary, the FTP file transfer operation of Yaskawa robot involves multiple steps, including preparation, system settings, software applications, and specific file transfer operations. By following the above steps and precautions, users can efficiently and safely complete file upload and download, thereby optimizing the performance and maintenance of the robot.
